Scam Prevention Guide - $20000.0 Lost

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone $20000.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

My grandmother got scammed by a man pretending to be an FBI Agent over the phone, who instructed her to go to the bank to withdraw $20,000 and then to drive to a pharmacy parking lot to give a man the money. The man in the parking lot didn't say much, seeme a little confused, and took the bag with the money in it (they instructed her to put it in a bag) and only addressed her by her name, and then took the money and left. The police/detective believes the scammer paid for an uber driver to pick up the money hence why the man was confused, but who knows, maybe he was involved. They may have a shot at getting his license plates from the cameras but the money is gone. I don't know how to help her as I don't have the money either. Is there some way I can recoup money for her? Why did the teller even allow her to do that? The teller told the police that she knew something was up so froze her account after she withdrew the money. Wtf. Why AFTER? Will the bank help? I am devastated for her because she worked very hard her whole life for what little money she had. She still works, she can't even retire. How do I help her?
