Scam Prevention Guide

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Recently, my friend received a call asking him to join a meeting for a job application. When he joined, he was told that there are customer service roles related to Angel One, Upstox, and Bajaj, requiring only four hours of work with a fixed salary. However, they later sent him links to open accounts. These were actually three different referral links for Demat accounts. There were over 400 people in that meeting; if everyone opens these three accounts, the organizers will make a huge amount from referrals. The worrying part is that these accounts often have annual maintenance charges (AMC) that people aren't aware of, which will be deducted from their bank accounts. When I tried to report this to Cyber Crime, I faced so many errors/ads on the website that I couldn't even create an account to lodge the complaint.
