Scam Prevention Guide

A reddit report about a impersonation scam that cost someone Amount not specified. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

I had a missed call today at work and responded on my break as I'm waiting for mediccal results and assumed that the call may be related. Usually I don't bother returning calls from unknown or private numbers. When I answered, there was a very stressed out woman who what's very upset, and said that she'd had nonstop calls saying "I'm returning a missed call from this number?" Much like myself. She said she hasn't called and doesn't know why, and the police advised her to tell everyone who calls to block her number as it can be used in a scam to track other numbers. She apologised and hung up. Was this a scam itself? What's the purpose if she was genuine and someone had scammed her? I was left so confused and curious as I'd never heard of anything similar. Any ideas? I blocked anyways, but thought it very odd.
