Phishing Scam Warning - $0.0 Lost

A bbb report about a phishing scam that cost someone $0.0. Learn how to avoid falling victim.

Other. I was contacted via phone (at my business). "Merchant. Service" displayed on Caller ID. A woman stated her name was Nancy and she was with Merchant Services Corporate. She told me I had been overbilled since January on my account. She asked me to pull up my account so she could go over it with me. She explained that it had to be done TODAY or I would miss my refund on the overcharges. We had recently switched processors and knew for a fact this wasn't the case. She was very insistant and pushy and told me that while she couldn't send me an email with the information, I could send the information to her. I took her number down and did a quick look up and it led me here. "Nancy" provided the following number: 1-800-490-7479 ext. 7035 for me to call her back with the information she requested. She really pushed the concerned sounding voice and "time was of the essence" angle. Sharing in the hopes no one falls for this scam.
