I checked my email and saw an email from the Apple Store telling me that I had ordered an iPad. I didn't order an iPad, so my first thought was this is probably spam.
I looked at the email closer. Message headers were legitimate, and the sender was actually Apple. I copied the 'view order' link into my clipboard, pasted it into a text editor, and verified it was a legitimate Apple store link. The only difference was that the email was delivered to a throwaway email (user-2837239238@emailboost.org – not the actual email, but the actual domain), but it was delivered to my personal Gmail Inbox with no warnings or other indicators.
I logged into my Apple account via a new browser window and verified that there were no orders in my order history. I called Apple and spoke to a rep, who confirmed that the order was not attached to my Apple account, but was under the user-2837239238@emailboost.org account.
I was trying to figure out what their goal was, but then I spotted something. They provided the following as their Billing Address:
